Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve seen a million travel guides online. What makes the Green City Guides special?
The Green City Guides were born from my desire for a travel guidebook full of nature-focused / culturally rich / sustainably-minded / vegetarian-friendly places. I aim to live lightly on the earth and try to keep those principles in mind when I travel too. Since locals are the best resource for finding great places to visit while on the road, I’m opening it up to submissions from people like you (artists, writers, foodies, booze enthusiasts, master gardeners, bus riders, cultural attachés, herbalists, park rangers, etc). For more information, take a look at the existing guides.
Count me in. Where should I start?
Fill out the quick form below and I’ll contact you to request your full Green City Guide submission.
What does a full submission consist of?
Guides are currently split up into the following sections: Public Green Spaces, Where to Shop, Where to Eat, Where to Drink, Where to See a Show, Where to Sleep, and a brief introduction. I like to include links to each place’s website, the neighborhood it’s in, and a short blurb explaining why it’s so great. A leading photograph (ideally taken by you) will open the guide, and additional photos to separate each section are welcome, though not necessary.
How many places should I add under each section?
As many as you like! I think it’s helpful for people to have multiple options when planning for a trip, but if you like to keep things short and sweet, that’s cool too. Just try to put together the Guide that you wish you’d had when you first moved to your city.
Do I have to be a vegetarian in order to submit my own Guide?
Being a vegetarian is not a requirement, but please make sure to include multiple interesting veg-friendly restaurant options. If your restaurants can also accommodate those who are gluten-free or have other dietary restrictions, even better! I would love for people of all stripes to feel informed and confident when planning their travels.
What if I live outside of the United States?
That is amazing. Let’s go global!
I have other questions. What should I do?
